Final Seminar film: Super Duper

Director's Statement: The original idea for Super Duper came from wanting to do a comedic short from the perspective of a super villain. The challenge was to develop characters that were recognizable as both a hero and a villain while still making them appealing, distinctive, and true to our vision. The end result is an entertaining and engaging character-driven short.

When we formed our team we knew that each of us had skills that would complement each other’s strengths, as well as a shared interest in character-driven story telling. Working through all the hardships of this film has brought us closer together as friends as well as challenged our skills as creators. Super Duper means a lot to us. No matter how many challenges we faced we stayed true to our concept and ultimately made a film we are proud of.

VR film: What Took You So Long?

This film was done in a collaboration with a team of students and two professors (Rodrigo Gomez and Richard Lewis) to be a VR experience highlighting the importance of taking care of our environment. The user is in an elevator travelling up through various floors to show the wonders of our Earth.

As well as helping with the overall story, my main task in the team was building the environment for a hot air balloon festival. I made the ground, skydome, clouds, helped with the lighting, and even made an eagle to fly by the user. I also helped edit animation of a plane and the hot air balloons modeled and textured by a fellow teammate.

Wonderful World Project: First Leg of the Journey

The Wonderful World Project was created by a select team of MTSU students for an international competition. Each participating team was challenged to create a short animated film about humans and animals. The final films competed at a conference held in China where our film was awarded 2nd place overall.

I worked mainly on the first two walk cycles in the sequence showing the dog Charles growing up. I also designed Charles and his textures, and did clean up animation for parts of the film, as well as assisting the compositing and rendering process.
